About FADC

Fukuoka Council for Designing Society in Aging Asia (FADC) is a multi-sector platform linking government, academia, industry, and civil society.
Established in 2011, FADC promotes international collaboration and practical knowledge exchange to address the challenges of rapidly aging societies in Asia.
Message from the Chairperson

FADC was organized with the mission of conveying the efforts of Japan as an advanced aging country, to countries that will age rapidly. At first, I worked to convey Japan's long-term care insurance system to Korea and China. South Korea has already launched a long-term care system, and China has finally started a nationwide long-term care insurance system. Nowadays, population aging has become a global trend and has come to be called “Global Aging.” And the social economy adapted to it is discussed as a longevity society, a super-aging society, a silver economy, a care economy, “Age-nomics,” etc. The opportunity for dialogue with aging countries has truly arrived.
Though WHO has been expanding its international network of age-friendly cities, Fukuoka City is making unique efforts with the catchphrase "Fukuoka 100" in anticipation of the 100-year life era through collaboration between industry, government, academia, and citizens. The World Bank has also advocated "Cities Ready for Aging" and is interested in Fukuoka City's efforts. Now, we have received requests from all over the world to learn from Fukuoka City's efforts. We hope to meet their expectations by exchanging agreements and expressions of intent.
