Fukuoka 100: Healthy and Active Aging
Fukuoka City is expected to face further population aging in the coming years. New approaches will be needed to address challenges such as rising medical and long-term care costs and social isolation.
Against this background, Fukuoka City launched the “Fukuoka 100” Project in 2017, aiming to create “a city where people can continue to live healthy, active, and meaningful lives as they age.”
The project promotes measures for an aging society not only in healthcare and long-term care, but also in areas such as transportation, housing, and working styles. It also encourages collaboration among citizens, businesses, and universities to expand health promotion, community activities, work and volunteer opportunities, and the use of ICT.
Through these efforts, the city aims to create a society where people can remain healthy, active, and connected throughout their lives, even at the age of 100.
